Fall 2011 Semester at School and other misc.

For those of you who don't know I'm a full time student and stay at home mom. I just finished my Fall semester and am glad to be able to announce that I passed all my classes with either an A or B. Yay!!! Just wanted to share that tidbit with everyone.

My son Zachary is supposed to start Pre-K when the new school year starts in August, that is provided he's potty trained by then. We have hit a snag, the bathroom here at the house that he usually uses it out of commission because he flushed a slinky down the toilet and we decided since we have the bathroom pulled apart we were gonna redo the whole bathroom, but that was like 4-5 months ago. The bathroom is torn apart, but we don't really have the time to put it back together right now and my son doesn't like to use either of the other 2 bathrooms we have in the house. Grr, hope we can get him potty trained soon. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

My daughter Elizabeth thinks she's just as big as her older brother, even though she's only 19 months old and he's 4 yrs old. :) Silly girl, she thinks she can do anything he can; and it's amazing to watch her try and try until she finally gets it on her own. Independent little thing too, doesn't want any help with anything. :)

Love my babies, I'm gonna enjoy my few weeks out of school for the holidays. I'll get to spend a lot more time with my babies. :)

Today was a very busy day. Two Dr. appt's with different doctor's, one for each child. My daughter had her 18 month checkup today complete w/ shots, fun fun. And my son had a dermatologist appt. this afternoon complete w/ 1hr+ wait, and no that doesn't include the time waiting in the actual exam room. But even though it was a busy day and my kids didn't get to do what they wanted to do, they both shocked me to pieces. Both of my kids were on their best behavior at their appts. it was amazing, esp. for my oldest w/ his extremely long wait. I didn't have to get on to either one of them other than to say, "No, don't do that." and they stopped; and I didn't have to do that much either. I am very proud of my little ones for being so well behaved today. They definitely deserve something special for being so good today. I promise it is not normally as good as it was today, usually a day like today ends up with all three of us in tears. So I am particularly proud of my babies today, they did great. I just had to share that with everyone, because they really made me feel like I was doing something right today and because they just really made me that proud of them. :)

Deals.

Ok, so today I go by CVS on my way home from school to get a few things that were on sale and I did awesome. I got 2 boxes of Playtex tampons, a bag of Dove chocolates, 2 bottles of Softsoap bodywash, 2 tubes of Colgate toothpaste, and 2 filler items. I only spent $18.76 for everything. Yay, I was so proud of myself and I saved $20.65. So totally awesome. I just wanted to share that with everyone. Oh, and I tried a new recipe the other day but it wasn't any good. It was bland, needed more flavor. It was called Beef and Cheese Roll-ups. Nobody in my family liked them, that was one of those nights where you try a new recipe and wind up having to cook two entirely different dinners because the new recipe was so bad no one would eat it. Yeah, I hate it when that happens.

My little man and more.

Well, his rash is almost completely gone. There are still slight traces of it on his bottom where it was the worst, but I'm sure that will be cleared up within the next few days.  Meanwhile, my daughter suddenly broke out in a rash from head to toe Friday afternoon for no apparent reason. We already knew she had Eczema though, so we're treating her for that now. Also going on in my life, I started going to college (something that was long overdue) on May 18th. I'm surprised at how well I'm doing in both of my classes. I'm only going part time though. Anyways, just keeping everyone updated.

Poor baby update

We'll the treatment that the dermatologist gave us seems to be working his rash has completely cleared everywhere but his bottom and even that is almost gone. Hope that it doesn't come back after the treatment is finished, but I'm glad it's mostly gone. Yay!

Finally, an answer

Well we went to the Dermatologist yesterday and she said that it's just a severe case of Eczema. She wrote him a couple of prescriptions and wants to see him back in six weeks to see how well or not so well it's going. I'm glad it wasn't anything more severe or life threatening. She also bumped up the amount of the anti-itch medicine he's getting and he can get it more often. Which will help loads. Unfortunately, she has said that he needs to stay inside as much as possible until it clears up. We were planning on going swimming next week, but that's out of the question now until it clears up. That's okay though, at least he's okay and I know what's going on. I just hope the treatment works.

Wish us luck

Well, my little man has his dermatologist appointment tomorrow afternoon. Wish us luck, we're hoping it is nothing serious and that it's something that can be treated and will go away. Here's to hoping. I'll let you know how things turn out.

Poor baby cont. 3

Ok, so we're still waiting to see the dermatologist. He's still itching like crazy, and nothing seems to be helping. On the bright side though we did get the appointment moved to the 19th, but only because we call his pediatrician and ask for the dermatologist number that he originally wanted us to see (the one that doesn't take our insurance) We've decided that if we can get him in sooner there then we'll just have to pay out of pocket because we just can't watch him suffer like that. At least he's in better spirits now though. Here's hoping they can figure things out then. I'll let ya know what the dermatologist says.

Poor baby cont. 2

Okay, so we had to go back to the pediatrician today about his rash. The doctor thinks that the rash is being caused by his diaper and has written a prescription for another type of ointment. Oh, I forgot to mention I had to call the doctor last week because he was scratching until he was bleeding. The doctor called in a prescription for Atarax which he's only allowed to take up to 3 times a day. Well, that wasn't enough even taking the meds he was scratching until bleeding. So now he's on another ointment and Atarx and still won't be able to get in to see the dermatologist until May 31st. Grr, I hate seeing him in such discomfort. He comes up to me and says "Mommy, please help itches." What am I supposed to do to that. Esp. when he's already had all the meds he can take for the day. I can't wait until this gets better. Anyways, I'll keep ya posted and hope for the best.

Poor baby cont.

Well, his rash is still there even though it has cleared up on his bottom. The doctors said it should clear up after his bottom does. Unfortunately, the dermatologist that accepts his insurance doesn't have any openings until June 13th. I hate seeing my little man itching so badly. I've been calling the dermatologist office everyday to check for cancellations and so far no luck. One of the nice receptionist I spoke with told me that Master's week is the best week to check for cancellations because they have a lot of cancellations that week. The only problem with that is getting to the doctor's office on Master's week. (yes, I live in the Augusta, Ga area) Traffic is horrible that week, I try my best not to leave the house for anything and I do mean anything. But if it means an end to my baby's suffering I'll do it. Anyways, thanks for your time. I'll keep ya posted.

Poor baby

My poor son (3yrs old) has a bad rash covering his entire body. It started as a rash on his bottom and we thought it was just a diaper rash, so we treated for diaper rash. It didn't go away, so we thought maybe a heat rash. We let him run around naked for a little while each day. That didn't help, then the rash started to spread. (By this time he's had it almost 2 weeks) So I took him to the doctor and they said it's a yeast infection and that the rest of the rash is a reaction that the body has after having an infection too long. Well, that was last week on Tues. so we've been treating with Nystatin since three times daily and the rash on his bottom is clearing up. But the rash everywhere else is getting worse, much worse and my poor little fella is just clawing away. Even with me giving him Benadryl. Still not getting better just worse, so I took him to the doctor today again. His normal doctor was in the office today (His pediatrician is part of a group practice) and he saw him and said he's almost completely positive that the other doctor was right, but he wrote a prescription for Claritin to help with the itching and is referring my son to a specialist. Somehow that doesn't seem to me like he's very sure as to the fact that it's just a reaction to the yeast infection that my son has. I dunno, maybe it's just me. I just know that seeing my poor little man running around covered head to toe with this horrible rash is breaking my heart esp. since I know it's bothering him. He's almost constantly scratching even with taking the Benadryl, I really hope they can get us into the dermatologist soon, or that it goes away. I just feel so bad for my baby.

Nutella

My son is an extremely picky eater, he survives on Chicken nuggets, french fries, applesauce, yogurt, milk, juice, spaghetti, and sweets. I had heard from many different sources that Nutella was a great product, so I decided to see if my picky eater would eat it. I went out and bought a jar and tried it, to my surprise, not only did he eat it he actually asked for more. Which is something he usually doesn't do unless it's milk, juice, or candy. I was very surprised and will definitely make sure that this is one item that is always on hand. Great product.

I bought the product myself all opinions are 100% mine.
